These are mostly text only, some with minimal images, but they are definately not lite. Kagi News is certainly the best of the bunch here.
- Kagi News: Kagi News distills thousands of world-wide news sources into one perfect daily briefing.
- News Minimalist: All news ranked by significance. The full summaries are a paid service but they do link to to Wikipedia articles they are referencing.
- OTechy: Makes a quick 1 paragraph summary of each headline. Doesn't list sources and the "About" page doesn't explain how it works either.
- Teahose: The "About" page states, podcasts, newsletters, and Physical AI papers, each distilled to a 30-second read, but, uhh, I don't know, give it a try...
